Exhibition: WTF? Who's The Future
Exploring the future through the lens of the now and interactive art
In her exhibition WTF? Who’s The Future? Kate asks questions about the human side of the future through the lens of the now, by placing artworks that represent a commentary of today into a future context, and presenting scenarios to inspire and challenge the audience. Her main piece, a large semi-immersive, interactive artwork 'All About You' changes in response to viewers' brainwaves, movement and facial expressions. This artwork will be a first of its kind in terms of its scale and the number of human signals the art responds to. The audience can choose to watch a demo or try out the artwork themselves.
Kate also writes satirical speculative fiction and her exploration of the conundrums and possibilities surrounding the future of humanness are brought to bear on her art.
She shares the stories behind her work, including her background in human machine interaction and neuroergonomics that inform her interactive art, and how she created 'All About You'. She also tells the tales behind her earlier work which is also on display, and what it was like to photograph the 2011 Manchester riot. The exhibition takes place from 6th to 11th February 2026 at Centrespace Gallery, Bristol 12-5pm and 6-9pm daily. https://www.centrespace.org.uk/whats-on
